The main purpose of an audit on a production floor is to ensure that all standards and procedures are properly implemented and followed. In certain Industries like pharmaceuticals, such inspections must take place every year by law. Auditors travel around the world, visiting different countries, and need oral interpretation to communicate with local staff. Interpreters working with translation equipment must be fully mobile during the audit so they can move between the various locations and facilities under inspection. They travel together with groups of people who do not always share a common language.
We provide interpreting services for manufacturing plants in several key industries.
One of them is the pharmaceutical sector.
The most recent audit included both seated meetings and briefings as well as walking tours of the facilities. We used three languages - English, Polish and German. Every participant could choose the language in which they wanted to listen to the speakers.
Because of the sensitive nature of the subject matter and the need for high accuracy, we applied the “pure booths” principle. This means we provided interpreters for every language combination without using relay interpreting (English-Polish, English-German, and Polish-German).
The audit lasted a full working week. Participants changed according to the topic the auditors were focusing on at any particualr time. After each changeover we supplied clean receivers and headsets. As a result, we needed 500 sets for approximately 100 interviews throughout the event to ensure that each participant always had a clean and disinfected headset and receiver.
