Radio interference in the tour guide system – noise, crackling, and signal loss can occur in any radio system.
Below you will find a clear division: what to do when the problem affects one person and what to do when it affects all participants.
1. The problem affects only one person (or a few individual participants)
In this situation, the fault almost always lies with the receiver or headphones..
The most common causes and solutions:
- The receiver is discharged – red LED or low battery indicator on the display
→ Replace the receiver with a charged one.
- Headphones are not connected or are damaged
→ Check the headphone plug in the receiver socket.
→ Replace the headphones with a spare.
- Dirty or damaged headphone jack in the receiver
→ Replace the entire receiver.
- Receiver set to a different channel
→ Change the channel (hold "+" and "-" simultaneously until the lock icon disappears, then select the correct channel).
Quick tip:The easiest solution is to simply replace the receiver + headphones with spares – the problem disappears in seconds.
2. The problem affects all participants (or most of them)
Then the fault lies with the transmitter or system settings.
The most common causes and solutions:
- Busy channel (the most common cause)
→ Change the channel on the transmitter to a free one.
Note:It is advisable to agree on channels with other wireless users in the building before the event.
- Transmitter is off or in mute mode
→ Turn on the transmitter (hold the power button).
- Two transmitters turned on simultaneously on the same channel
→ Completely turn off one transmitter (mute mode is not enough).
- Poor placement of the transmitter antenna
→ The antenna must be directed towards the participants and cannot be blocked by the body of the translator (not in the back pocket, not covered by hand).
- Too great a distance or obstacles
→ WaveTalk works well up to about 150 m in open space. Walls and crowds significantly shorten the range.
- Transmitter set to low power (Lo instead of Hi)
→ Enter settings mode (hold "+" and power) and change to Hi.
- Discharged transmitter battery
→ Replace the transmitter or connect it to a USB-C charger (it works while charging).
- Damaged microphone or transmitter antenna
→ Replace the microphone or the entire transmitter with a spare.
